Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated May 20 at St Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction for Lillian Howard, 93, of Jefferson, formerly of Paton.
Celebrant will be Father John Gerald. Soloist will be Sheilah Pound, accompanied by Lois Last. Interment will be at the Paton Township Cemetery near Paton.
Lillian Mayme Rathouz, the daughter of Vincent and Anna (Wesley) Rathouz, was born February 19, 1929, in Elkhorn Township, Webster County, Iowa. She was reared and educated at Moorland and graduated from Moorland High School in 1946.
On April 15, 1947, Lillian was united in marriage to Carter Howard at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Moorland. Lillian and Carter farmed in the Paton area, spending winters in San Juan, Texas. Lillian enjoyed playing cards and doing crafts. She was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction.
Lillian Howard died May 17, 2022, in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 93 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband who died in 2003; two sisters, Mary Blaha and Ann Nesler; two brothers, Henry and Leon Rathouz; and an infant sister, Clara. Lillian is survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials in memory of Lillian should be directed to the Paton Fire Department.
